Independent reading is a critical component of literacy instruction.   It's imperative that we do all we can to set our students up for success, so that they can apply their growing reading skill.  But sometimes, we get in our own way without even realizing it.  Learn the most common things we tend to overlook-- mistakes we make ourselves when it comes to setting kids up for success during independent reading time--and the simple moves you can make to avoid them!
